The Editor, Calogero M. Santoro, is Professor of Archaeology at the Instituto de Alta Investigación, and Departamento de Antropología, Universidad de Tarapacá, Arica, Chile. He is also Scientific Director of the Centro de Investigaciones del Hombre en el Desierto (CIHDE). His research is focused on local agropastoral societies of the Atacama Desert of Northern Chile, whose evolution was mediated by the interaction with Tiwanaku, Inka, and Hispanic colonial states, as well as hunter and gatherers societies of the Pleistocene/Holocene that originated diverse cultural processes in the Atacama Desert.
