The Editor, Calogero M. Santoro, is Professor of Archaeology at the Instituto de Alta Investigación, and Departamento de Antropología, Universidad de Tarapacá, Arica, Chile. He is also Scientific Director of the Centro de Investigaciones del Hombre en el Desierto (CIHDE). His research is focused on local agropastoral societies of the Atacama Desert of Northern Chile, whose evolution was mediated by the interaction with Tiwanaku, Inka, and Hispanic colonial states, as well as hunter and gatherers societies of the Pleistocene/Holocene that originated diverse cultural processes in the Atacama Desert. The Editor, Vivien G. Standen, is Professor of Bioarchaeology at the Departamento de Antropología, Universidad de Tarapacá, Arica, Chile. The focus of her research is to understand the cultural and environmental factors that shaped the prehistoric populations that inhabited the Atacama Desert, both hunter-gatherers and farmers. The Managing Editor, Eugenia Rosello, is a biologist with a Master of Sciences in Botany.
